Footscray Community Legal Service has provided a free legal service to taxi drivers for many years.  Footscray, along with Fitzroy Legal Service have secured funding from the TSC to expand this work.

Fitzroy Legal Service has a lawyer available to work with taxi drivers every Friday between 10am and 5pm to provide support in the following areas:

    -   Speeding, parking and other traffic infringements;
    -   Driver accreditation and disciplinary matters;
    -   Criminal matters; and
    -   Workers' compensation and victims of crime applications for assistance

Fitzroy also run a drop in service Monday-Friday 6.30-8.00pm. They are located at 124 Johnston Street, Fitzroy and can be contacted on 9411 1316.

Footscray Community Legal Service focuses on civil problems faced by taxi drivers, such as:

    -   Driver agreements;
    -   Disputes with operators and/or licence holders;
    -   Motor vehicle accidents and associated damage claims; and
    -   Leasing and purchasing of taxi licences.
