Last week, the Australian Taxi Industry Association's (ATIA) 2012 Australian Taxi Conference was held on the Gold Coast. The VTA was invited to present on matters relating to the ongoing Victorian Taxi Industry Inquiry.

The 40 percent increase in LPG price since December has resulted in many taxis being taken off the road. The industry has called for an increase in fares, or at least some other form of adjustment, to cover this crippling operating cost increase.
