The VTA and the Taxi Industry

 

The Industry

The Victorian Taxi Industry is one of the most dynamic in the world delivering a first-rate service for the community.

Victorian Taxi Association

Since its foundation in 1964, the VTA (Victorian Taxi Association) has served as the peak taxi-cab industry body in Victoria.

A democratically structured organisation, the VTA has strong support from the industry to continue delivering services with its partners for the benefit of members and the wider taxi industry.

The VTA fosters the interests and wellbeing of taxi-cab drivers, taxi-cab operators and taxi-cab Network Service Providers across the State.

The VTA's activities fall into key areas of:

  1. Working with government to achieve agreed goals and outcomes for the taxi industry.
  2. Working with Government in the development of transport policy to ensure taxi issues are considered and build into policy outcomes.
  3. Working with the taxi industry to ensure that participants clearly understand their responsibilities under the law, and more specifically under the Taxi Industry Accreditation regime.
  4. Working with Local Government and Local Councils to develop and locate taxi rank infrastructure. and planning for major events.
  5. Working with Local Government and Local Councils to develop and plan for major events.
  6. Working at a National level to ensure the Victorian taxi industry is well versed in Commonwealth legislation, trends and resource pricing.
  7. Developing and communicating new business opportunities for taxi industry participants right across the State.
  8. Developing resources to assist taxi-cab drivers, operators and Network Service Providers with their day to day activities.
